Creating Silk Flower Arrangements to benefit fuel fund, snow removal at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, MI

Three friends at the have come up with a way to have fun while raising money for the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, Michigan.

The longtime church members are making affordable one-of-a-kind silk floral arrangements that are perfect for most occasions.

In a time of sky-rocketing heating costs, it’s a great way to raise money for the congregation’s fuel fund and snow removal.

Longtime Upper Peninsula reporter Greg Peterson has the story.

A winter hobby has blossomed into a colorful and fun way to raise money for the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

Designing and creating silk flower arrangements are a passion for Shirley Tyni – Kay Frederickson and Ruthie Solberg.

They first buy a vase and then coordinate flowers to match.

They are even willing to do a design by request.

During the first three years, the trio has made over 300 flower arrangements – and all are unique.

Most of the floral arrangements run about ten dollars and are perfect gift for just about any reason or occassion.

The floral arrangements are being sold in the Bell Memorial Hospital gift shop and the artists have traveled to arts and crafts shows
