How many years does it take to see flowers on a baby rose of sharon?

I have offspring from my neighbor’s mother plant. They have been growing for 1-2 years and I haven’t noticed any flowers yet. How long does it take?
In North Carolina I often stuck starts in a pot and had blooms the next spring. A branch cutting is the best and should produce asap.
