How can you HARDEN real flowers in order to use them in crafts ?
March 22010
Im looking for something to be able to harden flowers, or even petals, in order to use them for scrapbooking and such… some sort of clear, hard, but thin, & durable type of coating… ANY ideas what would work ??
My Aunt did that to her wedding bouquet… I’m not sure what she did to them; perhaps spray modge-podge on them?
But if you want to use them in scrapbooking, I suggest drying/flattening them first, and then doing the hardening thing.

If you want to use flowers for scrapbooking, you don’t even need to harden them. Just flatten them out & let them dry. You can flatten them out by closing them in a book and leaving it there for several days. Then, just place it on the scrapbooking paper where you want it, & put the scrapbooking paper in between the plastic pages.

Hi,
If I want to dry my flowers I catch them before they start to die so you’ll have one less day to enjoy them. Hang them upside down by the stems. I just put string around all the stems and hang them in the craft room. You will see how well they dry.
Also any store like Michael’s sells a little tub of powder that you actually surround a blossom with by putting in a bowl or something and covering it. It tells you how to put it in the microwave and your flower will be dry in a matter of hours.
