is it okay to transport wedding flowers?

April 242010

i am getting married in June in Flordia and i live in atlanta. i have found a florist that is in my budget and willing to do the wedding flowers for me at a great price. i was wondering if anyone has ever transported there flowers to their location a day before the wedding?

For my aunt’s wedding, we drove the flowers for the wedding in our car in big boxes (flat) with water sprinkled over it to keep the petals fresh. That was for a wedding 3 hours away.

For my brother’s wedding, we drove the flowers in a cooler for a wedding 5 hours away.

For my cousin’s wedding, we had the bouquets in vases of water and drove REALLY REALLY carefully for 6 hours.

Just keep the flowers in water, or cool, as long as you can.

If you decide to dry the flowers use silica gel. It’s reusable. I have a woman who does this professionally. She takes the bride’s bouquet & makes a beautful framed arrangement with the flowers.

Creative way to display wedding flowers?

April 132010

My fiance and I are getting hitched in a few months and we are looking for some creative ways to showcase our wedding flowers during the procession. Does anyone have any ideas? My wife was thinking of getting holders to put on the ends of the pews in the church, but I dont know. Thanks.

Hi. I actually make wedding pew cones as a side business. We do custom made, hand-crafted pew cones for weddings. They have a bow so you can tie them on the pew end and they will hold your flowers. We can work with your florist to ensure they match your flowers and wedding theme nicely. See my site for more info, www.pewcones.com

How much did you spend on wedding day flowers?

April 112010

I am having an outdoor wedding in the Mountains so I don’t need a lot of decoration flowers as it will be pretty enough. I mainly just need my bouquet, 6 bridesmaids, and the boutennieres (I have no idea how to spell that). I am thinking maybe some flowers for the reception but I am doing mostly candles as it is a very rustic barn. Thanks in advance
Oh and does anyone know of any websites with pictures I can get bouquet ideas??
